The European project NEMMO, in which INPRE has participated, has been completed in September 2023 with the manufacture of 4 tidal blades.
Three of the blades will be installed on a platform in the Orkney Islands in Scotland. The fourth will be used for blade certification tests.
This milestone culminates the NEMMO project, initiated in 2019 – extended by one year due to the pandemic – in which 12 companies have worked on the development of different technologies that evolve the design, operability and durability of these blades, which unlike wind turbines, are installed on a generator 20 meters below the sea surface.
This project has been an R&D&I challenge for INPRE COMPOSITES, which has specialized in the manufacture of nacelle housings and wind turbine hubs for 30 years. Although the raw materials and manufacturing processes are similar, the structural characteristics and technical requirements make their manufacture more costly and make it necessary to develop much more precise and complex procedures.
